Welcome!

Alchemy opened in February 2005 in the Arts and Entertainment District of Silver Spring, Maryland.  Featuring the work of over 125 local artists and vendors, you will find a wide array of treasures from as close as Silver Spring and as far away as Tibet, China, Turkey, Nepal & Africa. Whether you are looking for a gift or shopping for yourself, Alchemy has the perfect unique hand-made piece for you. Offering eclectic art, fine crafts, home furnishings, and exquisite wearable art, you will be amazed at the high quality, one-of-a-kind artistic work that fills the store.  Plan on visiting often because the art is always changing -- from one week to the next, you never know what you will find in all the nooks and corners.

Classes for September are posted on the Classes page and are taught by Alchemy's artist and friends.  Check it out!  Come meet new people and join in the fun!  We also have added an up to the moment Google calendar to that page. The classes are interesting, thought provoking, user-friendly, and just plain fun.   Just click on the Google link and you can see visually each day what is happening at Alchemy.

Traveling soon?
We have gorgeous textile passport bags from a Santa Fe artist…Going to Burning Man?
We have tye-dye t-shirts from onesies for your babe to triple-x for the big man in your life!  The tye-dye’s are some of the nicest designs and colors and we have some short and long dresses with spaghetti and tank top straps, all in 100% cotton, made by an artist from California. You know me; I would not have them in the store if they were not great!  New shirts and blouses just arrived from India and Chandra sent along a great selection of jewelry, including many new rings.  Local artisans have made new jewelry, including an intriguing line of crocheted and hand-knotted necklaces and bracelets.  And, yes, back by popular demand are Ursula’s wire-wrapped fused glass earrings (hurry, only 8 pairs left) and Donna’s beeswax glow bowls, many with flowers from her garden gracing the edges or imbedded into the wax.

Sultry Summer Blessings!
Peace…
Brenda
